Question
My colors are chocolate brown, pale pink and pale green. I'm having trouble fitting pretty center pieces into our budget. We will have 25 small round tables each seating 6 people, so I need 25 center pieces. I originally had in mind 6x6 clear glass vases with hydrangeas and dahlias for my October wedding. I've been quoted from $75-85 a piece and that is just too expensive. the reception will be held in a courtyard area outdoors in the evening at a Spanish style Hacienda. Any ideas?
Answer
Hi Alison
My feeling is to stick with your original idea of hydrangeas and dahlias but to find a willing friend to help put them together.
You can buy clear glass vases from most thrift stores and as the flowers have big heads all they will need is a couple of short stems and the foliage.
If the prices that you have quoted are just for the flowers then why not think about growing your own or finding good quality silk flowers? Silk flowers are a good choice for your budget as you can resell them after the event.
Another alternative as the reception is outdoors is to have hurricane lanterns and then have ivy on the tables. This is a lovely simple centerpiece that looks great in the evening.
Your reception venue sounds lovely, have a great day.
