DIY Bride Shares Her Secrets

DIY Bride is the place to go if you are looking for inspiration and help to get you through the tangle of ribbon and card. We were lucky to be able to ask Khris, the clever person behind DIY Bride to share a few DIY secrets!

1. DIY Bride.com is a great resource for brides to be, where do you get your inspiration for your diy projects?

Thanks for the great compliment! Inspiration comes from all over: design magazines, my brides, bridal resources, blogs, other crafters, and my own imagination.

2. What are the best DIY projects to save money on your wedding? Hands down, wedding stationery is the best - and often easiest - project to tackle for anyone wanting to save money. Most people have a computer and printer at home or work that can used so the main expense is paper, which is pretty inexpensive. A basic DIY invitation can cost as little as $0.10 each.

3. What is your favorite DIY bride project? It varies by my mood! 'm a long-time paper crafter so I'd usually say my silk-covered invitations but my latest obsessions right now are tiaras and headpieces.

4. What is the simplest DIY project if you are not crafty? Definitely invitations. Most would-be crafters already have the necessary skill set to get started. If you can use MS Word, you can create an awesome wedding invitation.

5. What advice would you give to new brides to be, when all this wedding stuff can be overwhelming?

Get help! Do it yourself doesn't mean do it ALL by yourself. The biggest mistake brides make is underestimating the time and effort a project (or multiple projects) can take. This leads to major overwhelm, stress, and burn out. So, don't be afraid to grab a friend or two to help out with any of your tasks. Even something simple, like having a person devoted to putting tape on the back of an invitation layer, can be a huge help and time-saver. And, if you ever get stuck on how-to, don't be afraid to reach out to the community at DIYBride.com. There's a wealth of information and helpful people to lend advice and help troubleshoot.
