DIY Wedding Centerpieces

by T
(Vic)

Our wedding theme was based around Cinderella/fairytale. I made my own DIY wedding centerpieces drawing on inspiration I gained from reading an article on this site.

I bought some really cheap scrap book albums - the big ones from the reject shop that were a really poxy and gaudy design (probably why they were at the reject shop in the first place) I then bought myself a hot glue gun, some ivory calico, lace, blue satin, beads, sequins etc and covered the albums all in a slightly different desing using the same materials. I then filled the pages with the story of how both sets of our parents met, how we grew up, how we met and finished with our wedding day - my MOH took some digital snaps and printed them off on her printer before the reception and some frantic gluing had them in place in all the albums before the reception to complete the story. All the guests thought they were wonderful and it made the centrepieces interactive and gave our guests something to talk about!

The best thing though was that each centerpiece inluding the album, the fabric, decorations and glue gun averaged out to cost me around $20/centrepiece. The key was in knowing where to shop - and being prepared in advance so I could DIY with the help of friends
