I think this idea works better on a case by case basis. While I think it's a nice way to honor your family, I have COMPLETELY different taste than my mother and grandmother and the cake topper they used just doesn't fit with my theme or the rest of my wedding. The cake would look totally out of place.

I'm glad to hear that it'll work for you -- I'm sure the cake will be lovely.

I just prefer Anonymous' suggestion of honoring my parents by wrapping my bouquet in a piece of lace from my mother's wedding dress. That sounds elegant and lovely!

Nice idea! Wish my grandparents had saved their cake topper...but I'm not sure they even had one. I know my parents did not.

Though I am trying to honor my mother and grandmother by tying my bouquet with a piece of lace from each of their dresses.
