Candy Buffet
Candy Buffet
Simple Steps for a Candy Buffet: 1. Plan ahead Begin to plan your candy buffet at least 3 to 4 months prior to the event. This will give you enough time to put everything together and make any important changes before the party. 2. Figure out the quantity Plan to have about 6 to 8 oz(about 1/2 lb.). of candy per guest. 3. Choose theme colors & flavors Choose your candy buffet items based upon your party's theme and colors. Then decide on the type of candy choices you would like to give your guests. 4. Decide the setting Choose a buffet table and take note of its shape and dimensions. To help with planning, draw your buffet table on a sheet of graph paper, then sketch in an arrangement of containers. Purchase containers for the candy buffet, such as glass vases, jars and bowls. Clear containers work better because the guests can see what is inside of them. 5. Order the candy Plan to order the candy so that it will arrive about 7 days prior to the event. Allow yourself a buffer zone in case there're any changes. Please see our Shipping Policies.

Cheap Centerpiece and Favor Idea
by Tessa
(Davison, MI)
Since I am a librarian and my future husband is a big reader, we decided to make our centerpieces and favors out of used paperbacks. Specifically, trashy romance novels for me and old school scifi for him. We both have rather large collections that are donated to the pile, I also have a bunch of friends who are willing to donate to the pot. We are arranging them in little stacks tied with ribbon (on sale at JoAnn Fabrics) and printing little bookmarks with our names, wedding date, and literary quotations on the home printer. It is cheap, cute, and totally us. Plus it is an excellent way to recycle all those books taking up space in our place.
Hi Tessa
I love the idea of using well read books as part of your wedding, I am a bit of a book worm too!
Good luck with your wedding plans.

Charitable Guest Favours
by Cassandra Sheppard-Price
(Canada)
For our wedding, my fiancee and I are making little cards, telling our guests that a dollar in their name has ben donated to a certain cause. For my side it will be donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association, as my maternal grandmother passed away as a result of diabetes. For my fiancee's side, money will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, as his grandfather died after a long battle with lung and bone cancer. We hope it's something that people will really appreciate.
Hi Cassandra
That is a lovely idea, it is a perfect way to remember loved ones that are no longer with you.
Have a wonderful day.

Cheap Chocolate Wedding Favor Ideas
by Margaret Smith
(Randolph NJ)
By making your own favors, you can save so much money. For our wedding, I purchased chocolate molds and made chocolate wedding bell favors. Wrapped them in small clear bags and tied with ribbon to match our wedding theme colors.
Hi Margaret
They sound yummy! Do you have any pictures for us to see?

Favoring the Written Word
by Shawna
(Chicago, IL)
In contemporary times, wedding favors are typically manufactured and generic (really - how many tiny boxes of chocolate or votive candle holders does one person need??). Instead of going this route, my fiancee and I decided to scour library book sales for hardcover books with titles that reminded us of each person on our guest list. We have been getting entire bags of books (15-20 books in each bag) for $3 and under!
We are stripping the books down to their natural fabric cover, writing a personal inscription in each, and wrapping them with paper raffia attaching a typewritten tag identifying the guest and table number. These double-duty favors and escort cards will be displayed on a bookshelf salvaged from Craigslist in the foyer of our reception hall.
This project undoubtedly takes time, but it has given us a wonderful opportunity to express through writing how much each guest means to us. Also, through the process of choosing the books and writing the inscriptions together, my fiancee and I have been able to share the stories that bind us to the people in our lives with one another.
Although this budget wedding tip is particularly appropriate for English teachers like us, anyone who loves reading, vintage, or the written word can make book favors a meaningful part of their wedding!

Mini Soaps For Cheap Wedding Favors
by Jill
(Chino, CA)
This is a cute and to me cheap wedding favor. Take Wilton candy molds in wedding designs, then use melt and pour soap, any scent and color of your wedding. Melt the soap with color and scent then pour in the mold and there you go. Place soaps in tulle and wrap.

Hi Jill
Love your cheap wedding favor idea, do you have any photos so we can see how gorgeous it looks?

Traditional Asian Wedding Favors For A Great Cheap Wedding Idea
by Melinda Ujlaki
(Vienna,Austria)
Hello,
I'm preparing also my wedding for next year. I started to organize many things, and I realized it's not that easy. Searching cheap and creative ideas I found your ad about the rings. The rings are also important for us,and I really hope we can find the right ones, and I hope I have enough luck to be the fortunate person, who gets them :)
So here is my idea, as I lived in China for a while,I think this is a really cheap and exotic idea to organize a Traditional Asian wedding.
Traditional Asian Wedding Favors
Perhaps one of the first images that comes to mind when envisioning an Asian wedding is that of paper lanterns. Paper lanterns are long associated with Asian culture. Their soft glow and warm luminescence tranforms any space into something magical.
The sharing of sake is an old Japanese tradition. The sake toast has come to honor and symbolize the sacred wedding bond. Including a sake theme is an authentic way to lace your wedding with Asian history. Have your guests partake in this ancient toasting ritual, and then send them home with beautiful sake cups to use again and again.
Chopsticks, too, make delightful Asian-themed wedding favors. Whether they are simple wooden chopsticks tied with festive ribbon or elegant lacquer chopsticks presented in a personalized silk pouch, they will add to the pleasure of the day.
The following is a brief list of possibilities:
•Fortune cookie box: wedding suppliers stock cardboard, silver-plated, and silk fortune cookie boxes. They can hold a variety of gifts, in addition to actual fortune cookies.
•Asian fans: whether you choose paper or silk, these fans are crowd pleasers and hold a delightful appeal.
•Incense: with its holistic and life-restoring properties, incense can be distributed in varying aromas.
•Orchids: actual flowers or artwork
•Asian edibles and drinkables: wasabe beer, green tea, rice candy
•Musical CDs
•Origami paper and instruction booklets
Hi Melinda I love your ideas and it would be great to include them in your wedding reception as Asia plays an important part in your life.
Good luck with your wedding plans!

Drawing Table Cloths For Your Cheap Wedding Guest Book
by zachary mondres
(Centerville, Va, USA)
Instead of paying for expensive beautiful table clothes, get your self some cheap white table cloths and place markers or crayons at each table, let your guest draw on your table cloths and write personal notes, not only will it be something that will save you a tonne of cash but it also will be something fun for your guest, you can also take pictures of all the drawings and personal notes and use it as a guest signing book instead. You can also let everyone know you want them to right a personal note on the wedding cake table and then keep that table cloth as something to remember your wedding night by when you have your anniversary dinners at home. This is a really good way to have personal mementos from your wedding that are cheap.

Tear Packs
by Cheryl
(Evans)
I wanted to have "tear packs" for my wedding reception but to purchase them pre-made was very expensive. I bought the small packs of tissues at the dollar store and organza bags from Oriental Trading and made my own. I put 5 tissues in each bag with a little tag that read " If you shed a tear or two, here's a tissue just for you. So wipe away that happy tear, we are thankful to have you here. I made about 100 bags and the cost was about $12- $15 total. Much less than if I had purchashed the pre made ones I found online.

Hi Cheryl
A sweet and memorable cheap wedding idea, and you have saved yourself loads! The cheapest tear packs that I have found online are about $1 each! You have saved about $80 making your own, brilliant!

Oreos Make Great Cheap Wedding Favors
by Katie
(Fall River, USA)
Oreo Pops For Cheap Wedding Favors
I am getting married on Sunday (July 10) & I made my own wedding favors.
I made Oreo Cookie Pops.
I bought oreos, double stuff work best... (well ok, the Walmart brand, shhh)...
First you insert a lollipop stick into each cookie's cream filling.
Then they were dipped in melted white candy. (Wilton or whatever brand is available)
Each cookie was placed on a cookiesheet covered in wax paper or aluminum foil... and put in the fridge for a few hours to let the candy re-harden.
Once they were hard, they were redipped... and while the candy was still wet, I sprinkled blue sugar crystals on the front of each "pop". (My colors are blue & gold)
Back into the fridge to harden.
When the cookie-ops were fully hard again, I wrapped each one in transparent cello wrap. (6' x 6' sq)I used clear.
They were tied with blue & gold curling riboon.
I then made flags for the sticks with my brother P-touch lable maker, with our names & wedding date on them.
They look awesome, they are easily modifiable to anyone's color scheme, & 50 cost me about $20. (the candy melts being the most expensive item.)

Bottled Sand Wedding Favors
by Jennifer Tilley
(El Paso, Tx, USA)
Bottled Sand Wedding Favors - Inexpensive & Pretty!
My husband & I are going to have a vow renewal & we are having a sand unity section rather than a unity candle. Therefore, for favors for each family, we have decided to bring the sand theme into each favor! Buy small plastic bottles (about 70¢ each) and add the color sand that is used in the ceremony. Fill each bottle almost to the top (about 1/3 full), add a flower that matches your theme in the bottle. Glue the lid on with a hot glue gun. Add a ribbon around the lid rim & a sequin on the lid's top (opitional) for an added flair & shimmer affect. Thus Resulting in, Bottled Sand Wedding Favors! Enjoy :)

Candy Table
by Dan Brown
(Provo, UT)
Candy Table Example
My sister was just married and for her wedding, she had a candy table. It had all of the most popular candy's and was the biggest hit. They were arranged in various vases and candy bowls. It was only a hundred and half dollars to supply the table the whole night. People ranted and raved about it for weeks after. They said they loved it.
Hi Dan
Thanks for sharing and sending in the photo, the candy buffet looks great!
