What To Wear To A Beach Wedding
What to wear to a beach wedding is all about finding out about where and when the wedding is.
A beach wedding in Brighton on the South Coast of England in comparison to a beach wedding in Hawaii will have different dress needs - stones versus sand and also the most obvious weather differences. Plus if you add in the seasonal weather changes you may end up needing to dress for all weathers!
So the best bit of advice would be to
find out the weather forecast
and know the beach!
You can't wear heels in the sand, I know I have tried, so if you want to wear something on your feet - which is a good idea as the sand could be hot, you will need to choose an outfit that goes well with flats or flipflops. In other words your dress should not be floor length in heels! You can always put your heels on after the ceremony. Most beach weddings will have the ceremony on the beach and then move on to dryland for the reception, you will want your outfit to look good in both venues. The best bet is to dress for the reception part of the wedding as you will be there longer, and just keep in mind that you will be on the beach for the ceremony.
Don't forget the umbrella! There I go, on about the weather again! Umbrellas are great for creating shade and of course for keeping you dry, plus you can get your umbrella to co-ordinate with the wedding colors or at least your outfit.
Also don't forget the suntan cream, try and get the type that doesn't stain or grease your dress, a wedding is not the time to turn into a loster! If you are still at a loss as to what to wear ask the bride for suggestions as some beach weddings are formal and others less. Just take a look at these pictures to see the contrast.
