Engraved Wedding Favors Guide

Engraved wedding favors are a lovely personal wedding gift but as with most things to do with weddings they can cost a fortune.

The first main cost is that the favor will have to be made of metal or wood, both beautiful but expensive when you think about how many favors you will be buying. You can engrave plastic but there really doesn't seem much point!

When you are choosing your gift think about what your guests will use and appreciate. Will they really display a personalized silver frame with your wedding date? What will happen to the crystal miniature vase? Silver hip flasks are a great gift for men, but they would use it whether it has been engraved or not.

So that brings me to the next question to ask you, do you really need to engrave your wedding favors?

If money was no object you could engrave your guests names on the item as well. A pretty silver box with each name on would be a big wow, but it would also be a bigger cost than just having your initials and the wedding date.

What I don't want to see happen is you to find the perfect favor, engrave it and then your guests tuck it away in a drawer and forget about it. There will be guests in your wedding party, mothers and grandmothers that would be delighted with engraved wedding favors, why not treat them and then have a less expensive favor for the other guests?

If your heart is still set on finding a great engraved gift don't just look at the wedding favor shops, have a look at the corporate gift shops as well. Corporate gift shops are used to big orders but for some items they will be able to produce a set of 12 items or 100, the engraving costs are normally included in the price and therefore costing less!

Remember that wedding favors are one of those wedding items that are nice to have but if your wedding budget is tight you would be better off spending your money on other items that will be noticed more. There have been weddings that I have worked at where the waiting staff have collected lots of leftover favors that have been discarded, and I know you won't buy your favors for that to happen.
